Our little Benjamin Parker turned ONE year old this month! We had a little birthday party for him with family and friends and were blessed with a beautiful evening outside to get to spend time with those that came.

We were blessed to spend the week of Thanksgiving in Indiana with Kenneth’s family. Benjamin wasn’t sure at first how to act around four energetic boys, but he had the best time figuring it out! And we even got to see a few fall leaves and snow while we were there!

This is our last full month at home before heading to JAARS in Waxhaw, NC. We are excited that the last stretch is finally here! We will both be taking an Intercultural Communications Course (ICC) from January 26th – February 25th. This four-week course will give us the opportunities to deepen our personal relationship with the Lord, further interpersonal and team building skills, interact with experienced missionaries, understand differing worldviews, acquire tools for multicultural, multigenerational team ministry, language learning, and conflict resolution.

Kenneth will then be in his Aviation Pre-field Orientation, March 2nd – June 24th. Since both of these courses will take place at JAARS, we will be moving and living there for about 5 months!

In October we were able to watch “Ends of the Earth” a mission aviation documentary with true stories of MAF missionary pilots — past and present — who strive with missionaries and local believers to take the gospel to the most remote places on earth. The film was based in Papua New Guinea close to where we will be located. We really enjoyed getting to see the film and were reminded again of how easily we take for granted the blessing of having God’s word and of the many people, like a Nukna man recently experienced in Papua New Guinea, who did not have a Bible in their own language yet.
(If you would like to watch the film, link here https://watch.endsoftheearthmovie.com/ )

The Apostle Paul Speaks Nukna.
Recently some of the Nukna people were reading through the translation of Colossians with Matt Taylor, checking for accuracy and naturalness. After one particular passage, Matt noticed one of the Nukna men smiling and chuckling to himself. When Matt asked what was going on, he replied, “It’s just that for a minute there I forgot it was a translation. It’s like Paul knows the Nukna language and is speaking directly to me!” Moments like these greatly encourage us to persevere in the task God has given us, to partner with the Nukna to translate the good news of Jesus into a language and format they clearly understand. It’s a long and complicated process, and there are no shortcuts to achieving a high-quality translation that speaks to the hearts of the Nukna while also remaining faithful to the original text.

The gift this Nukna man has of reading the scripture in his own language is great! But now he also has the opportunity to learn that he has such a greater and ultimate gift of salvation through the Savior Lord Jesus Christ!

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” Luke 2:10

May your hearts be full and blessed by the most precious Christmas gift.
